Reiki

The Reiki symbol at the right of the page is made of two Japanese ideograms. The top figure is Rei which represents the spiritual (this is not religious) source of the higher mind. This is the same intelligence that tells your heart how to beat and other organs how to work. Ki is the lower symbol and represents primal life energy. Ki is responsible for manifesting various human qualities and characteristics, including our physical bodies, feelings and thoughts (taken from "The Reiki Touch" by William Rand).

Answers to some of the most commonly asked questions:

Q. What is Reiki?

A.  Reiki is the act of laying hands on the human, animal or plant to comfort and relieve pain. In Diane Stein’s book “Essential Reiki” she explains that this act is as old as instincts. “When a child falls and skins her knee she wants her mother to touch it and make it better. When experiencing pain, our natural instinct is to put our hands on it." According to Stein, human touch conveys warmth, serenity and healing. This simple act is the basis for all touch healing techniques. A subtle energy flows from the hands of the practitioner into the person or animal and it’s this energy that creates the relaxation and healing effect. Judith has been attuned as a Reiki Master to pass the Reiki energy.

Q. How does Reiki heal?

A. Our bodies have an energy system that has vital energy centers called “chakras”. The health and balance of this system is determined by our thoughts, physical body and spiritual existence. When there are negative states such as fear, energetic blocks are created and these blocks eventually cause physical illness. So by returning the body’s energy flow to a balanced state, we are creating positive states such as relaxation and promoting physical health as well.

Q. How can Reiki help my pet?

A.  While correcting behavior problems in dogs and cats, Judith has discovered that most often, fear and or frustration are the cause of such problems. She has had great success in correcting these problems by giving Reiki to the animal. This “dissolves” the blocks and negative states and returns the animal to it’s natural balanced state. The animal can then experience calm and a peaceful feeling. Sometimes Reiki alone creates the effects the pet owner is looking for. With more serious or more ingrained problems, Judith uses Reiki in conjunction with behavior modification and the Bach Flower Essences®.
