In most cases, getting a puppy is all about that heart decision. You get the puppy home and then what? Puppy-hood should be taken very seriously as it is a critical time for setting a dog up to be healthy, happy and a good companion for years to come. There are sensitive periods in a puppy’s life when training and development need to be handled with caution and careful attention. Judith Levy has developed the Polite Puppy Program (a private in-home program) to prepare families and their home as well as to address all necessary issues for the newest family member. For those who prefer a class situation , Judith offers a Puppy Socialization Class which is limited to four pups, so individual attention can be given.

 

Puppy Socialization 3 to 6 months
Puppy Socialization 6 months to 1 year

This class will be instruction for daily use and actual socialization in class that will address the following:

• Loose leash walking (weather permitting)
• Socialization time for puppies with and without toys
• Bite inhibition
• How to handle painful puppy biting
• Socialization between puppies and people
• Learn to safely introduce pup to environment (noise, groomer etc.)
• Basic obedience and Leadership

This will insure the proper development of socialization and help prevent fear and aggression issues later.

Class rules and equipment list will be sent to registrants after they sign up for class. The fee for these four classes is $100. Two people per household are welcome to attend per registration. (The space is limited so we regret that no more than two people may attend.)

The Polite Puppy Program is a private in-home program that prepares the entire family and the house for a new puppy and then -- after the dog arrives -- provides hands-on instruction in the proper care of your new family member.

Peace of Mind provides guidance and instruction in the following areas:

• preparing your home and family
• purchasing appropriate products you'll need when you bring your puppy home
• socialization training for your puppy to people and other animals
• properly acclimate your puppy to the challenge of his new world
• crate training and house training
• Obedience 101 in beginner obedience commands
• Leadership training to create a healthy lifelong relationship with you pup.

All of these introduced early and respectfully will create a well-adjusted dog with socially acceptable manners.
